If you ever find yourself in the Hillingdon area and in need of a drink with a view. Look no further than the secluded gem that is The Old Orchard.
Situated in Harefield away from any hint of urban life, this pub has everything you need for a chilled day out in the sun.
The drinks menu is great with a wide variety of beer and cider on tap as well as plenty of wines and spirits (including Woodford Reserve which happens to be my favourite whiskey).
The food menu is also fantastic and very much in keeping with the pubs traditional and old school feel.
The Old Orchard has recently undergone a refurbishment and it is clear that they have carefully thought through every detail. The rustic furniture, open fires and old paintings give the place a warm, classy feel.
A little quirk that also stood out to me was the way food orders were given to the kitchen. Written orders were placed in cylindrical containers that were then propelled through a pneumatic tube up and around the top of the bar to the kitchen. Brilliant.
But this was the main reason why I came here. The beautiful view from the tables on the terrace.
On a sunny day like this you can see the Grand Union Canal with its colourful barges, a glistening sailing lake and miles of rolling countryside.
When city life gets a little too much to handle, this far flung pub is complete bliss.
